Joomlabamboo template and extension documentation

In this tutorial we are going to show how to clear the Joomla 1.7 cache.

A common query raised on our forum is that when changes are made in the Joomla admin side, they do not update in site preview.

This is because Joomla stores a snapshot of the page in its cache if the cache is enabled - the cache enables Joomla to load the page quicker the next time a visitor accesses that page.

Global Configuration

Navigate to the site tab, select maintenance and click clear cache.

Delete options

2.1 Select all

2.2 Click the delete button

Use an extension

There are extensions available to automate clearing the cache – a popular free extension used is the NoNumber Cache Cleaner.

Cache Cleaner offers the ability to

  • Empty the cache folder
  • Purge expired cache
  • CMSLib Cache
  • JRE Cache
  • Empty tmp folder
  • Any folders you define

To set up the cache cleaner - Navigate to extension manager, click plugin manager and select System - Cache Cleaner
